If your pet could talk, what would be the first thing it says?
“Don’t even ask.” Our adorable little girl is an A-1 star of obedience school. She probably could do a few tricks, but every move she makes is her choice. She is loving , attentive, smart and sweet, but stubborn, or as we girls like to say, “strong willed.” So don’t ask her to heel or sit or come. Just smile and say “hey, girl!” She’ll look at you and you know, “Don’t even ask.”
What’s the best and worst airport you’ve been to?
Worst was Dallas/Fort Worth. Horrible!! It’s a lovely airport, but the stop and switch planes was the worst!! Mind you, I have double knee replacements that are 25 years old! I walk but not speed walk, nor do I enjoy steps. Of course my connection was in terminal A. I was in terminal Z I think. Twenty minutes to make connection. Run Gramma, run. I made it only to find the flight delayed 2 hours. Then departure gate was moved to the farthest possible spot in that terminal. Another long journey! This experience made the lovely airport into one horrible experience.
The best was LA. It’s not gorgeous, but it’s held the best experiences. Grandkids meeting me for adventure! Easy to maneuver around.
Singapore was gorgeous and also fabulously calming. A vacation’s vacation. My all time favorite!

What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?
There are so many examples of strangers helping strangers. In the case of earthquakes or other disasters, strangers who have also been impacted by the disaster come to help their neighbors. Strangers donate blood and sometimes even organs for the benefit of others in need. Strangers risk their own lives to pull an accident victim from a car. I have faith in people and always pray that they will show their kindness to strangers.
What’s the best local dish you’ve ever eaten while traveling?
The most amazing local dish was a second in a multi-course meal at a restaurant high on a hill overlooking Positano, Italy. In view was the rock that the sirens dwelled on as they called to Ulysses and his crew. (Ulysses was strapped to the masthead so he couldn’t jump overboard; his men wore earplugs.) Okay, so you want to know what the most memorable dish was? Beans. Yep. Cannellini beans in some sort of secret sauce that the sirens probably cooked up. It was so fantastic, I could have been- should have been the whole meal. I couldn’t tell you about the other six courses. They were delightful. The place was known for its beef, which a giant of a man was cooking behind an open grill. One of the owners served our table. He was wearing tight-fitting linen pants (no panty lines!!) and an open linen shirt, which was also quite a delightful sight. The curtains were furling, the breeze was heavenly, but the beans! Heaven.
