    What’s something you used to believe as a kid that seems ridiculous now?

    I used to wish on stars. I would beg those twinkling wonders to miraculously bring me beaded moccasins, and a pony to go with them. I wanted a pair with all my heart. I did get them about 20 years later when I bought a pair. We bought a pony for our sons. So, I’m reluctant to say the belief was ridiculous. It just took longer and a self assertive approach for my childish dreams to come true.

    I am enchanted by the full moon, and whenever I first look at it on a full moon night, I wish for something; it’s unlikely any wishes will ever be granted, but it’s fun to pretend Mrs Moon and I have a close relationship. Ridiculous? Maybe.

    Who am I to judge what is foolish for a person to believe. If it gives comfort and hope, believe until it no longer serves your purpose. Wishes are granted. But usually not immediately, nor in the way you thought.

    If you could change the ending of any book, which one would it be?

    “Old Yeller” by Fred Gibson has a very sad ending. I would love to see it differently, but it wouldn’t be such a great book or movie without showing the great love and protection that big ol’ dog had for the family he adopted. The number one rule is no child or animal can be hurt, but what did Fred do? He broke the rule. And that might be the only reason I still remember a book that I read over 60 years ago. Don’t go changing anything the author created.

    Which languages do you speak and how did that impact your life?

    I speak the language of love. Que? Si. Parlo la lingua dell’amore. Well, I have studied Latin, French, Italian, Spanish and can understand a bit, but can’t speak any of them with assurance I will be understood. Evidently I put the accent on the wrong syllable. You have to be there to understand my difficulties.

    It is embarrassing that people around the globe can speak English but we can’t even speak it properly.

    It impacted my life in broadening my world view. I studied Indonesian before a trip to Bali. It’s gone now.

    Latin in high school really helped with the Romance languages. It’s still easy to see the similarities, but pronouncing those words is a different story. I keep trying! But they probably speak Latin in heaven, so I got that covered.

  • Who are you most inspired by?

    The person who inspires

    Jon Batiste is an incredible artist and wonderful person. Even when there are grey skies in his personal life, he gives thanks for what is. He finds purpose in everything and he radiates joy and love. Not to mention his fantastic talent. A picture of him running is on my dream board. I don’t intend to take up jogging, but I do want to follow his example of creating, sharing, rejoicing and reclaiming life’s meaning.
